Kort verhaaltje in het Engels

Citaat:
...it was dark, darker then she imagined it had been, the blackness seemed to unpleasantly close in on her. Her breathing, was turning into a heavy panting, 'footsteps' she thought... she heard them coming nearer. They sounded hollow ... coming closer. She started walking a pace faster, blood rushing to her face, cheeks gone pinkish.
'Brrr', she thought 'it has really gone cold fast'. She hurried along the closed doors while trying to do up her buttons, with her free hand.
The other hand was clutched around her mobile phone, she felt the need to keep walking in this fast pace. Her heels making a clicking sound against the pavement... slowly dying away in the darkness that seemed strangely thick.
Still the heavy yet hollow footsteps were following her, rather closely and strange enough they made no echoing sound, thou hers did.
She saw her breath evaporating, making small clouds, it seemed to even be getting colder, a chill went through her skin, making her knees wish she was wearing pants.

The footsteps stopped. She was startled and felt a curiosity rising to turn around to see who was following her for these last minutes... although it could have been an hour for that's what it felt like, her heart still racing in her chest, making her light headed.

She let out a gasp of air, when she realized that the air she was breathing out was turning into ice... falling on the ground. Her eyelashes were covered in frosty drops, and her face felt strangely numb.
She froze in her steps. Feeling chilled to the marrow, she couldn't undo the clutch around her phone, her body was feeling numb. Her fingers were starting to hurt as she tried to open her hand.
She looked down at her hand, it had frostbite all over... she screamed, yet there was no echo, and a wall of darkness muffled the sound.

The footsteps started again, this time not hollow, but heavy and still without an echo... 'Oh God, help me' she thought, breathing was difficult and the cheeks that were blushed up pink, now only were numb or giving her sharp pain. She failed to move, how she wished she could run away.
Afraid to close her eyes, her heart going crazy in what now felt like a wooden box which was once her warm and soft body...
If she could've moved she would have fainted, but now standing there frozen in her steps, all she could do was wait.

She heard the muffled sounding footsteps and caught a glimpse of a shadow, it didn't appear very large, though it looked fluttering as lighted by candles... then everything stopped.

Elisa, let out a gasp of air, breathed in deeply, and looked around her.
Soft lights came from the lanterns around her, her hand still clutched around her mobile phone... she frightfully stared at it, it was sore, but appeared normal. She shivered, a chill went through her heart.
Very carefully she glanced over her shoulder..... nobody, her heart was still racing, she could feel the beating in her throat and she was starting to get a headache.

'Let's go home, now' her mind was speeding along what had happened to her, and she needed to leave, now.
Her hair felt rather wet and cold in her neck, and she tried tying it up in a knot. Suddenly a cold wind blew, again sending shivers down her spine.
She decided to follow her intuition 'let's get the hell out of here'.

She started walking again, rushing home. Her pinkish face turned red quite fast as she hurried along the way.

She stopped, screamed, then fell down.... her silence overwhelming the scream she had let out.

The next morning she was found, her eyes blackened, frostbite markings all over her body... the body looked like it had been dead for at least 2 weeks, 'stored in a freezer no doubt' the policemen said amongst eachother.
There were more reports about the 'Frostbite Killer' yet they never found the freezer.

Citaat:
...it's already past noon when Raven awakes, she had been drinking the night before with a bunch of friends, before they ended up in bed together. 'Mmmmm' the murmuring sound of her stretching her arms out almost cat like... 'he's still sleeping' she thinks as she looks over her side to his. She grabs a shirt, some shorts and slips on her bunny slippers, they had been a present for valentine, now nearly 3 months later they looked scruffy, but she still adored them like nothing else.

Silently, she walks down the stairs, aiming for some coffee or at least something to wake her up and take the hangover away.
Peering over her shoulder into the mirror as she walks by, which reveals a tired face and more years she's willing to admit to including a bunch of black untidy hair. 'Time for the hairdresser' she points her finger at the mirror as if it were a gun, and shoots.

She turns on the coffee maker and goes to pick up the morning paper from the floor in front of the hallway door, 'let's see the fine mess people are getting themselves in today' she speaks softly as she frowns.
Bending over she feels her back, 'God, I must sound like an old lady' she says sarcastically as she lets out a small grunt.

Walking back to the table, she pulls out a mug and fills it up with coffee,
'shoot, no creamer' she thinks... 'and the regular milk is overdue'.

She hears stumbling upstairs, 'he's finally awoken' she thinks outloud, while making an attempt to turn the page of the newspaper.
The shower is being turned on, and she resist the urge to turn on the cold water tab of the sink which is so close to her. She grins.

They had been dating for a while now. He always just seem to stuck around when everyone left and then ended up at her place.
She sometimes wondered if he actually lived somewhere himself, but she never had bothered to ask. They had two things in common, mutual friends and the mutual friend called alcohol, beyond that, who cares, she figured.

The shower stopped, she knew that before to long it would be goodbye again. The cat jumped on her lab, purring and kneeding, 'yes I'll feed you, sweet Percival' she spoke gently to the big tabby cat, whom responded with a 'Meow'.

She put the mug to her mouth and slowly inhaling the smell of the coffee she drank it slowly, her stomach could barely handle it.

Stumbling sounds on the stairs, rather hasty and careless, he came down, with his coat over his shoulder. 'Have to run' ... he exhaled his cigaret ... 'catch you later'. He kissed her quickly and without much warmth, she knew the drill, it had been always like this.
'Well at least he's good in bed' she thought or at least what she could remember of the nights spent together, drunk out of their minds.

The door slammed shut. He was gone again.

She decided to have a shower, 'djeez, look at my hair' she glanced over at the mirror... it looked dirty, 'what's this' she thought.
Observing it more closely it appeared something was written on the mirror in what appeared something close to greasy fingers.
It spelled, -Do you remember- . 'Remember what' she was frowning wondering if he left this message, but knowing him, that would've been totally out of character. 'Besides had I not witnessed him follow the normal routine' she thought. 'I'll clean it off later' she figured to go upstairs first and get dressed, after she at least washed her hear, which smelled like beer and cigarettes.

She turned on the shower. Grabbed an oversize towel and a toothbrush.
Threw of the t-shirt and the shorts on the floor somewhere near the laundry basket, the bunny slippers she put on top of the toiletseat. 'Lovely'.. she whispered, opening the door to the shower, the warmth welcomed her in.

Citaat:
Stepping into the shower she was pleasantly surprised at the feel of the water running down her face and neck.
She loved the smell of soap on her skin and was soaping herself down very carefully, examining her body parts and wondering where certain new bruised spots had come from. She wasn't very pleased with her breasts, but had given up hope ever being happy with them.
She washed her hair, the shampoo soon rinsed away all the stench from the night before... she was done at last, feeling awake, but her stomach still didn't feel quite like it should.

She turned of the water... watched it draining away, the steam all around her. Opening the glass door, letting out what looked mostly similar to fog, she grabbed her oversize towel and first dried of her face.
She didn't get all the mascara of the night before and it left a small layer of darkness under her eyes. She looked at the mirror in front of her, taking her face out of the towel, something was written on the mirror....
there was nobody there but it looked like someone had written with his finger on the fogged up mirror. -Remember- it said. A small chill went from her head to toe, leaving goosebumps over her body.
'What the f*ck' she mumbled underneath her tongue, she wasn't in the mood for anything out of the ordinary and decided to just forget it.

She wrapped herself up in her towel, which had fallen on the ground, she was more then just a little shaken. Though she wouldn't admit it to the world. She, Raven, didn't believe in this kind of crap, and sure wasn't going to start.

She walked out of the bathroom, to find herself some clothes, 'have to get, milk, catfood, coffee, creamer.... and ... ' she was thinking outloud, trying to make up a grocery list. She found a pair of jeans, some sneakers and an oversized sweater. 'That'll do just fine' she glanced at herself warely in the standing mirror.. which appeared just as clean as ever, she silently without admitting so, checked to see if there was anything.

She put on her coat, grabbed her purse, checked for her keys and wallet and then left the house. She felt strangely aware of somebody watching her. 'Did the hallway always look this gloomy this time of day', she had to wonder if things were getting to her. Shaking her head, as to disagree with herself, she hurried along. She was feeling as if the doors along the path were closing in on her... the floor seemed to breathe.
'Don't be silly' she tried to encourage herself, it wasn't working.

'Who was looking at her?' she felt the pressing eyes on her back, the elevator was within seeing distance, she felt like running, but didn't allow herself to act that hysterically... 'I must be having a strange hangeover' she thought, even though in her 12 years of drinking, she had never encountered a hangeover like this.

She stopped for a second, a whispering noise came from down the hallway, she listened-- very softly, very slowly, 'remember me' it said, her hair in her neck stood on end. Now she did start running towards the elevator, pressing the button anxiously. The elevator made a halt at her stop, she grabbed the door, opening it as fast as she could, thinking to be safe inside there.
She pressed the button for floor 1.... 'only 3 floors to go' she was thinking, now starting to feel rather frightened and her stomach was disagreeing still.

She spooked and jumped at the back of the elevator, for in the window appeared a face, or something like a face, it had wrinkle like frowns over the entire face. The nose was curved, the eyes beady and wide open, seeming in a frantic state. Luckily the elevator was starting to go down, 'remember', she heard coming from the creature... it sounded more pleading then anything else, but she was to scared to notice.

There was a scratching sound coming from the bottom of the elevator, she looked down, to see the bottom slowly disappearing... 'aaaah' she let out a small scream odly surprised. She moved up against the wall in the elevator, scared out of her wits by now. As the bottom slowly seemed to fade away, arms were noticable, they were all clawing up at her... they were dirty and muscular yet skinny. Long hairs grew on them and curled up.
The nails were pointy and sharp, black edged and she didn't want to know what had been under the fingernails leaving such stains.

There was a simultaneous sound coming from below -- 'Remember'...
screechy voices, deep voices, they sounded dreadful to her ears, she didn't notice the tiresome and longing in the voices. Trembling with fear, she couldn't move, see, speak or hear. The first hand clasped around her ancle, gouching her skin with it's nails, hurting her and making her bleed, but she didn't even feel it, for she remembered....

She remembered everything.

Et voila, deel 2.
