jachtmodel of dekenmodel : alles geschoren behalve het gedeelte op de rug en de bovenkant van de achterhand.
streepmodel: een streep geschoren van de hals via de buik naar de flank, de rest van de haren blijft gewoon zitten.
Persoonlijk laat ik mijn paard helemaal scheren, ook al rij ik geen wedstrijden.
Ik heb thuis wat foto's van verschillende modellen, zal ze vanavond even opzoeken....

A general overview of horse clipping -- reasons it may be needed and the types of clips which are often done.
Horses that are left in the wild and governed by nature grow long protective coats for the cold weather and shed them for a shorter coat during the warmer months.
Similarly, if a domesticated horse is pastured outside most of the time, it will grow and shed its coat according to the seasons. However, most domesticated horses do not spend all their time in the weather, and instead are stabled indoors for shelter and warmth. This factor interferes with the natural growth and shedding process and can create problems for horses.
Horses with heavy coats can easily become overheated, which leads to excessive sweating. A heavier coat takes longer to dry naturally, leaving the horse wet and cold for long periods of time. Long coats are also much harder to groom and maintain. These factors all contribute to the occasional need for clipping a horse’s coat.
Before you actually pick up the clippers, it is important to determine what actually needs to be done. Horses should be assessed individually, since different horses have different needs. For example, horses that are ridden in warm climates will need more clipping than horses that are pastured where temperatures drop in the winter months. Another factor to consider before clipping is how the horse will be used. For example, show animals need to be maintained in a certain manner for competition.
Once the horse’s clipping needs have been accessed, he should be introduced to the clippers gradually and gently. Give time for the horse to get used to the sound of the clippers first, then slowly introduce him to the feel of the clippers. Be sure that the blades are sharp and well-oiled to avoid pulling or other problems. It is also easier to clip a horse with a clean coat.
A good place to start clipping is with the mane, forming a “bridle path”, or a place for the bridle to rest. The amount of mane you leave intact will depend upon the breed. For example, horses with shorter necks generally have more mane, while less mane is needed for horses with long, arched necks. The edge of the mane should be straightened by holding the clippers at a right angle.
A finishing trimmer should be used to trim the hair on the ears. This can be done easily by folding the ear in half vertically and holding it firmly while using the clippers. The finishing trimmer should also be used around other delicate areas such as the muzzle, nostrils, mouth and eyes.
The extent of body clipping will vary greatly from horse to horse. The simplest type, known as the “pony clip” involves removing the hair only from the underside of the neck and chest. These are the areas that are most prone to sweating, and clipping will offer the most relief in hot weather.
The next type is known as the “trace clip”. This method involves clipping the hair on the underside of the neck and belly in the areas the harness traces will touch. A popular clip for riding horses, it was often used on carriage horses as well.
The “blanket clip” is so named because it leaves a blanket-shaped area of hair on the back and hind quarters of the horse’s body. Hair on the neck and flanks is removed.
A “hunter clip” is often used on horses that are required to perform work in areas that are often muddy and wet. It involves removing most of the hair from the body, but leaves the legs intact and a small patch in the saddle area.
Finally, the “full clip” refers to removing all the hair from the body. It is often used for horses that compete in winter months and for show horses.
