My daughters 11 month appy got hurt recently. We don't know what happend but she had a deep cut on her back foot and the vet had to come out. He gave her antibiotics and cleaned the wound out. He than bandaged it up and she needs to have it on till next Monday.
Anyway, I called my vet because I was wondering why she was still limping. He told me that it would take up to a month before I would see significant improvement. On Monday she needs another bandage that will stay on her foot for another two weeks. I hope she heals up good and fast because I need to work with her before the fair that starts in July.
Please do make sure the bandages stay put, as removing them too early (or having the horse remove it too early) might cause growth of wild flesh. I really hope the wound heals nicely. Has there been any stiching done? Any tendons hurt? Please do keep us informed about the progress...
